The Fort Street Public School project site sits in-between the Bradfield Highway (Harbour Bridge) and Upper Fort Street. Due to the location and extremely tight site conditions, access was a major problem that had to be over come with limited access for site deliveries and cranes.
The existing part of the school is also Heritage listed, which meant Axis had to match the existing copper rainheads and downpipes with new (like for like).
Axis had an extensive scope which included roof safety mesh, foil backed insulation, 9mm fc sheeting under the roofs (for acoustic purposes), breathable membrane, a mixture of Longline 305 and Klip-Lok roof sheeting, 1.2mm thick stainless steel box gutters, Velux Skylights, Colorbond fascia’s, cladding, copper rainwater heads and downpipes, feature cappings to block walls and an extensive roof safety system.
